I Don’t Want to be a Frog written by Dev Petty and illustrated by Mike Boldt (2015)
Little Frog complains. He doesn’t want to be a frog. He wants to be a cat, or a rabbit, or maybe a pig or a cat, or even an owl… pretty much anything but a frog. His father tries to explain to him that he is a frog and cannot be any of those other animals. But it doesn’t look like dad is making a very convincing case. Then Little Frog meets Wolf. And who does wolf like to eat? Cats, rabbits, pigs, even owls. Pretty much anything except frogs. Now Little Frog understands that’s it might be good to be a frog after all.
Look at all these friendly frog faces. They’re pretty self-explanatory so I’m not adding the directions pages.
These are two of my favorites.
This one is made with a thumbprint which I think works particularly well with this story since our little frog friend learns to accept himself and be happy to be a frog.
And this one uses a blow-out party favor for the frogs tongue. What fun!

If you’re in the mood for a frog treat, look no farther than here… pretzels, oreo, and m&m candies.
