November 5 – Doughnut Day

Happy Doughnut Day!

I guess this day is so delicious we need to have two of them per year! June 6th was also Doughnut Day. You can find more donut stories HERE.

In June, I shared Arnie, the Doughnut, a picture book, with you.

Today, I found another Arnie book to share with you.

Arnie the Doughnut, Invasion of the UFOnuts written and illustrated by Laurie Keller (2014)

This is a graphic novel for the older picture book reader. The story, 125 pages long. It’s set up like a comic book with lots and lots of pictures and very few words, and is told in twelve chapters. This format is good for children who are transitioning from traditional picture books into chapter books. It gives them the shape and feel of a chapter book, without the intense story line. It’s fun to read and attracts many ‘reluctant’ readers.
