November 26 – Cake Day

Happy Cake Day!

Celebrations and Cake go together like… well, cake and celebrations!

Today, I want to take a minute to celebrate the very first, debut, one and only, picture book written by my good friend and critique partner Keila Dawson!

Unknown

The King Cake Baby written by Keila Dawson and illustrated by Vernon Smith (Feb. 2015)

Keila’s book is scheduled to be available through Amazon, Walmart, Barnes and Nobel, and Wordery in February next year, just in time for Mardi Gras. But you can preorder your copy HERE.

This lively story of the King Cake Baby is an adaptation of the Gingerbread Man. The King Cake Baby does not want to be baked in a cake and runs away crying, “No, mon ami!” You can’t catch me, I’m the King Cake Baby!” as he leads everyone who would have him in a king cake on a chase through the French  Quarters of New Orleans to the Mississippi River.

You can follow along as the King Cake Baby escapes everyone but the baker, who knows just how to get a King Cake Baby inside a King Cake. And then, you can make your own King Cake following the recipe at the end of the book.

Happy Reading Friends!
