Happy Bat Appreciation Day!
Let’s take a minute to recognize the under appreciated and often detested flying mammal, the bat. Feelings about bats usually stem from ignorance of their beauty, usefulness, and environmental benefits. Thank goodness for wonderful picture books which educate and appreciate bats. Here are just three of my favorites.
Stellaluna by Janell Cannon (1993)

A classroom favorite by one of the nonfiction picture book authorities.
The Bat Scientists by Mary Kay Carson (2010)
My newest favorite bat nonfiction picture book by an amazing author.
