Song and Dance Man written by Karen Ackerman and illustrated by Stephen Gammell (Caledcott Award Winner, 1989) is a story of Grandpa, an old vaudeville dancer. One day he takes his grandchildren up to the attic where he shows them his bowler hat, cane, and tap dancing shoes. He entertains the kids with dances, jokes, magic tricks, and stories of the old days ‘before people watched TV’. I wonder what he would say today.
