Over the River and Through the Wood: A Holiday Adventure written by Linda Ashman and illustrated by Kim Smith (2015)
Grandma and Grandpa send out invitations to their family to come home for the holidays. One by one, each family packs up their bags and their favorite pies and make the trip to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Along the way each family runs into trouble and they all end up in a horse drawn sleigh to finish up the trip. A funny twist to a classic holiday song!
You’ll have fun singing along and joining in the holiday adventure! Neighhhh! The original lyrics of the song mention Christmas Day, twice. But,except for the lights on the house, there’s really no indication what holiday this family is gathering for… Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah? All we know for sure is that there’s snow and lots of love!
…and pies! To pair with a new twist on a traditional tale, how about a few new twists to traditional pies? One of these might become your new favorite!
