Monster Needs Your Vote

Monster Needs Your Vote written by Paul Czajak and illustrated by Wendy Grieb (2015)

Monster finds out he’s not old enough to vote. So he goes on the campaign trail himself. However, no one cares about his issues… longer summer and desserts for dinner. (except me, no one asked me) But when he sees a ‘closing’ sign across the library doors, Monster has an issue everyone feels passionately about. Monster stumps for education and gains a huge following; and although he’s not old enough to be president either he continues to make his voice heard. Now, because of Monster’s mighty roar the library is celebrating their grand re-opening!

Teaching kids about the election process can be daunting to be sure. But Monster brings some of the basics to life in a way kids will understand and enjoy!

Monster has my vote! Pick up your own copy and see if you don’t agree. (Although I still like the idea of longer summers and dessert for dinner!)

Pick one for a simple craft activity or use all the ideas in a social studies unit.40fc8e64ed10185dc30c17b755a2fd21

That sounds like a fun book, Juliana. Duck for President has been my voting go-to picture book, but I’ll have to give Monster a try! (especially because I’m all in favor of longer summers and desserts for dinner!)
