Happy Teacher Appreciation Day!
If you have a teacher in your life, give him or her a hug. Teachers are universally hard-working, dedicated individuals. Often they are under appreciated. But many times they are heroes. We entrust our children to their care for up to 8-10 hours a day, counting the before and after school hours many children spend in school with their teachers. Minus the time children are sleeping, they spend more time with their teachers than they do with their own parents. Let’s share the love!
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? written by Bill Martin Jr. and illustrated by Eric Carle (1996). This classic picture book has toddlers and preschoolers looking for animals and colors. It ends with the spread, ‘I see a teacher looking at me’ and the teacher then looking at the children.
From that time onward, children are looking for things and teachers are looking at children.
