Peanut Butter & Brains written by Joe McGee and illustrated by Charles Santoso (2015)
Reginald was a zombie who didn’t particularly like to eat brains. When Reginald shuffled through the park, he wasn’t after your brains, he wanted your peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Reginald tried to get peanut butter and jelly from the corner cafe, the school cafeteria, and even the grocery store, but he couldn’t get it from any of them. Then Reginald smelled the peanut butter and jelly coming from little Abigail Zink’s lunch bag. She was the smartest girl in school and the zombies all wanted her brain. So when Reginald started toward her and so did all the other zombies. At the last minute, Reginald threw Abigail’s peanut butter and jelly sandwich at the zombie crowd. They tore into the sandwich and their eyes lit up. Abigail Zink was saved and the whole town was saved because the zombies no longer wanted to eat people’s brains. They became regular citizens and Reginald was a hero. But now, Reginald didn’t want peanut butter and jelly sandwiches; he moved on to something new… pizza!
Zombies aren’t for everyone, but these not-so-scary zombies are fun for everyone. Have a little zombie tag where everyone has to move like a zombie after they’ve been tagged. The last one tagged becomes ‘it’ for the beginning of the next game.
Make your own zombie. Many zombies make an invasion!
