Happy Be An Angel Day!

Every day is a good day to be an angel to someone. Do a kind act, share a hug, give a word of encouragement. Be an angel!

Our first picture book today is a lullaby written by Billy Joel for his daughter, Alexa.

When the angel for the top of their Christmas tree breaks and needs to be replaced, Tyler is determined to find one that looks just like him… a boy, a black boy. This certainly wasn’t easy to do. He found angels of all sizes, all with wings, but none that looked like him. Finally, Tyler asks Santa, or at least Santa’s helper. Santa’s helper was Carl, an art student and Tyler’s babysitter when Mom and Dad went out. On the night before Christmas, Santa was busy working late. The next morning, Tyler’s house was as crowded as the Christmas stable when a special delivery from Santa came just for Tyler… it was a carved wooden angel with wings, that looked just like Tyler. The next day, Tyler invited Carl to the house for leftovers. And he had a special request… all his friends wanted angels that looked just like them!
