Planes written and illustrated by Byron Barton (1998)

34 page board book suitable for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Simple sentences tell young readers about many different types of planes from jets to cargo planes, to crop dusters. And tells about some of the people in the planes flying, riding, and working on the planes.

I Love Planes! written by Philemon Sturges and illustrated by Shari Halpern (2003)

The young boy want to fly in a big balloon, a blimp, a glider, a dive-bomber, a helicopter, a supersonic jet fighter, a seaplane,  a jumbo jet, even a rocket. With just a few words per page, the reader is taken on an imaginary trip in the sky with someone who loves planes!

Planes Fly! written by George Ella Lyon and illustrated by Mick Wiggins (2013)

For a more sophisticated reader, this picture book rhymes but also uses technological vocabulary that young plane enthusiasts will love!  For example, ‘Rudder, flaps, ailerons, tail, steer the plane around storms or hail.’ or ‘Watch out the window. Trees rush past. Feel the nose lift- airborne at last!’
