Summary: Ellie and her friends have a club in Ms. Sullivan’s barn. They take care of animals until they can be placed in other homes. This story is about Ellie’s attachment to a little pig named Plum. Ellie is convinced that Plum is bringing her good luck. And when Plum goes away to live on a farm and Ellie’s luck changes, she is even more convinced until her friends help her realize that her ‘luck’ was really her own doing.
Literary Merit: Lively chapters with lots of little details.
Kid Appeal: Girls will enjoy this book more than boys, for the most part. (There are no male characters in the story, except the man who takes the pig to his farm.)
