Happy Find a Rainbow Day!
A rainbow is not all that hard to find if you know where to look. In his book A Rainbow of My Own, author and illustrator Don Freedman, shows us how one small boy chases a rainbow until he finds it in his garden.
Published in 1978, A Rainbow of My Own was the last book Don Freeman wrote before his death that same year. His very popular picture book, Cordoroy was published ten years earlier.
Another highly acclaimed picture book, Rainbow Fish, was published in 1992. It’s the story of a beautiful fish with shiny scales which reflected the light casting rainbows wherever he swam. He was admired by many, but did not have any friends. The Rainbow Fish learns to make friends by sharing his shiny scales. Soon, he had only one scale left, but many friends.
Where ever you go today, and whatever you do, be sure to find the rainbow in yourself and in others!
