June 13 – Blame Someone Else Day

Happy Blame Someone Else Day

(if you can get away with it)

32300The Berenstain Bears and the Blame Game written and illustrated by Stan and Jan Berenstain (1997)

Who’s to blame when the vase is broken? Or the window? Mama Bear is tired of hearing excuses and accusations. It’s time Brother and Sister Bear learn to solve problems not place blame.

1806689Who Sank the Boat? written and illustrated by Pamela Allen (1982)

An upbeat rhyming book about too many animals trying to get into a little rowboat. Was it the large cow, pig, sheep or donkey? No, it was the tiny mouse who jumped in last that sank the boat. This is a funny story, but also a good lesson on floating/sinking, weight/mass, and balance.

781498The Day Jimmy’s Boa Ate the Wash written by Trinka Hakes Noble and illustrated by Steven Kellogg (1980)

How in the world did the class field trip become so chaotic? To find out you have to work backwards through the chain of events told by the little girl to her mother. Where one thing leads to another, this class is asked to never return to the farm. The story is full of physical humor which children love and finding out whose to blame is just part of the fun!
