March 25 – Waffle Day

Happy Waffle Day!

Today we celebrate a multitude of different events, none better than International Waffle Day, which originated in Sweden.

Now, this doesn’t usually happen, but this is a topic that I have no quick picture book suggestions.  What? I know! Pancakes! Pancakes! by Eric Carle…. If You Give a Pig a Pancake, by Laura Joffe Numeroff….The Dancing Pancake, by Eileen Spinelli…. but nothing for waffles!

Oh sure, I could have gone with a word play and given you Mr. Wuffles! by David Wiener, but I really wanted to stay true to the day.

So I did next best thing… I searched Goodreads!  Oh my!  There are a great number of picture books about waffles! Now I have a new reading list, so that next time someone asks me, “What do you recommend in the way of waffles?” (Which might happen more than you think.) I’ll have at least a couple of good suggestions.

Here’s a list of books I’m going to read, maybe you’ll want to read a few too.  If you want to meet me a Waffle House, I’ll treat!
